Free .NP ccTLDs Domain Name Registration

Domain registrations under .NP ccTLD is free of cost. This service is provided by Mercantile Communications Pvt. Ltd. Domain names are registered on firt-come-firt-serve basis unless the name is registered copyright (in Nepal) of any brand. These domains can be registerd only under the secondary NP domains. Currently there are 140 secondary ccTLDs from which you can choose your domain name. They are:

Documents required & Application process

After checking the availablity of choosen domain name, one can fill the request form from Mercantile's website for registration of the domain. After filling all the details, one must visit the Mercantile's Office with following documents:

For Official Request

1. Online request form (admin/ technical contacts and valid name servers) must be filled on Mercantile's official website (register.mos.com.np), after choosing the domain name, during sign-up process. Administrator's contract adress in the online form should be that of the company owner.
2. A scan copy of application letter written in the company/organization's letter-head pad signed by authorized officer.
3. Scan copy of company/organization registration certificate issued by the respective government bodies must be uploaded.
4. Foreign companies are required to have an official presence in Nepal as a joint venture, partnership, agent, or a licensee in order to qualify to register a domain. Scan copy of official documents to prove the local presence will have to be submitted with the application.

Note: A company/organisation can select domain names based only on its company/organization's name, product's name, service's name and brand name.

For Personal Request

1. Online request form (admin/ technical contacts and valid name servers) must be filled on Mercantile's official website (register.mos.com.np).
2. Scan copy of duly signed application/request letter.
3. A scan copy of the applicant's citizenship certificate must be uploaded to verify the authenticity of the applicant as only Nepalese citizens are entitled to register personal domains.

Note: Personal Domain name can be selected based only on his/her name as mentioned in citizenship certificate.

It may take 1-2 working days to get your domain/s registered or modified. Though it may take longer sometimes depending on the number of pending requests. It is must to upload scan copies of all the necessary dcouments before the approval. Review the information for accuracy before submitting. The submitted documents will be checked and if needed, original documents will be asked for further verification.
